Question:
Has anyone on here had surgery or know someone who has had surgery from Dr. Pensler??
I am scheduled to go in for with him july 26th. he is considered one of the more recognized rhinoplasty surgeons in the midwest and in downtown chicago. his credentials and WONDERFUL. i was impressed very much. when i met him i liked him and i liked his idea based off of the digital - natural. so i booked with him and felt great with my decision because i feel i am in good hands with him.
I also stumbled on a messege bored with a girl saying her fathers friend is PS in and said he was one of the best in the midwest and her 2 friends got revisions done by him and were very happy and recommended him to her. also, someone else said they got breat implants and they were great!
BUT yesterday i got this terrible email saying:
"i had 2 surgeries with pensler. He tried to fix the first one and left me
looking like a horrid disaster. I had to have Dr. Davis fix his mess. Dont
mean to e you but ive spent thousands trying to get this fixed."
umm needless to say that YES that did scare me. Im not sure how to feel. im not gettign anything major...no tip work or getting my thinned...just my projection made closer to my face.
?????????????????????????????!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?
Answer:
Honestly, I read a ton of message boards when trying to decide on a and I learned one important thing: you will ALWAYS find someone who was unhappy w/the surgeon you're considering. I mean, I think a lot of bad reviews are obviously a bad sign. But if it's someone who is generally really well-regarded and has great credentials, I would take the bad review with a grain of salt. No is a miracle worker and will obtain perfect results with every patient. And there will be some patients who have body disorders who are unhappy with ANY result, even if it's great. And then there are people with unrealistic expectations. So in the end, you can't really tell.
I think the most important criteria is the doctor's book of s, your feelings/interaction/degree of comfort, and his credentials. Don't let random message board postings scare you!
Good luck!

Hi,
I don't mean to try and change your mind about Dr. Pensler....but I personally felt comfortable with Dr. Dayan in Chicago. I head he's one of the top PS in Chicago as well. I have a deviated septum and felt he was more qualified to operate on me considering he is also and ENT and knowledgable on the functional procedure as well as the cosmetic. He informed me he performs about 4 plasty's a week. He specializes in surgeries.
If you have doubts, make an appointment with him. He has a wonderful staff as well to answer all of your questions. THere is a $165 consulting fee, but if you schedule an appointment, the fee is waived. You are able to view the projected end result through computerized as well.
Good luck with your decision.
Answer:
hi there. dr. pensler performed a closed rhinoplasty on me on the date you created this thread, haha. anyway, i knew from my very first consultation with him that i wanted him to perform my surgery. i just felt extremely comfortable with him, and immediately trusted him, knowing that i would be in good hands with him. he came highly recommended to me by some acquaintences, and i know how wonderful his work is. (and yes, his credentials are incredibly impressive as well) in any event, my surgery went extremely well. he originally estimated it would take an hour and a half, but it ended up only taking 45 minutes. i felt absolutely no pain whatsoever...i remember getting prepped for surgery, and the next thing i knew, i woke up and it was all over. no pain at all. i am now 3 days post op, and i feel great. i'm a little bruised and swollen, but it's not nearly as bad as i was expecting. my post op appointment is on wednesday, july 5th, and i can't wait to get my splint removed. from the very little i can see of my tip and nostrils, i'm thrilled. anyway, my overall experience has been exceptionally pleasant, and dr. pensler's staff is just as wonderful and helpful as he is. i highly recommend him.

I agree that you should take it w/ a grain of salt. No is going to please every patient, it's just not possible. Also, the person that emailed you could have been ANYONE, even someone out there trying to sabotage Dr. Pensler for whatever reason. I REALLY wouldn't take this person seriously without him/her providing you w/ s to back up what they are saying. I don't think you have any reason to worry...Dr. Pensler is very well qualified.
Answer:
