Question:
Today I went back to work! Although one day sooner than forseen, but I got really bored at home and my experiments with make-up were rather positive - didn't have to buy any , most of the bruising is gone now! Yay!
Most of my colleagues are older males (IT geeks as I refer to them ) and I sincerely doubt they actually noticed anything! Although they paid me lots of attention this morning (I started my morning with some issues and problems I needed to take care of) - only one or two did look a bit strange, like, 'is something different?' - but NO ONE ASKED!! And later that noon a colleague that recently gave birth, surprisingly walked in with her 15-day old newborn so by that time I was already old news!
If I may give you some advice that worked perfectly for me: come to work really soon, before everyone else, that way you can avoid the 'red carpet' walk when everyone is looking expectantly at you. Just make sure you are the first one there, and the others will just say a quick hello without actually noticing you (that's how it goes at my work)

You look Great Trix! I just checked out your day 12 pics. Now that the is not distracted by the bruising you can really see the tremendous results. It looks very very natural and balances you face out perfectly. You must be so happy!
Enjoy getting back to your "normal" life

Answer:
Congrats on life getting back to 'normal'!! I bet your colleagues are trying their best to figure out the change. You've had a great result!
??? 4 you....Did you have much swelling around the lower half of your face? I'm 5days post surgery & still can barely open my mouth or chew. When I look at your pics it's encouraging to think that *maybe*/hopefully the swelling will lessen that much more! I had NO bruising at all for which I'm thankful! The swelling has been minimal too but I'll be happy when my mouth/jaws feel like 'normal'.
Thanks for sharing!

hmmm, I'm not sure if I can be of any help there. Right after surgery, I had a massive swollen upper lip, but that dissapeared after about 2 days. I think at day 3 or 4 I could almost smile again (as good as it gets with a cast on), but as soon as the cast came off on day 7 I had my smile back. Even with my chin 'filled'.
I was lucky with having almost no swelling (except for my s), but then again my bruising seemed to be a lot worse than most others.
recovery seems be going either one way or the other - either swelling or bruising!
Just be patient - I'm sure it'll get back to normal by day 10, that's the magic treshold when everyone starts to look WAY better!! Good luck with your recovery!!
Oh - and thx for the nice words I really love this board
ps- I did wear a lot of today, whereas normally I almost never wear it - so if people were wondering what was different - the makeup probably answered the question for me!

Answer:
Trix you look amazing!! Your story is so inspiring I hope my surgery goes as smoothly as yours. Congrats on going back to work. Unfortunately I don't think i'll be able to just sneak in. i work the afternoon shift. i'm considering cutting and dying my hair the weekend before to throw people off. what do you guys think of that? bad idea? would it cause too much of a stir? a friend advised me not to do anything other than the ... thoughts?
Answer:
I wouldn't do anything too drastic with your hair but a bit of a change would be good. I lightened my hair slightly and parted in on the other side and wore it a bit more curly than usual...also I wore a necklace...something which I never do. It seemed to divert attention away. I think a bit of a distraction is good....
Answer:
Thanks Danika. Probably a good idea. How are things going with you?
Answer:
Hi TTP,
Things aren't going too badly....I'm still quite emotional an unsure how to feel about my . There is still swelling and my under dark circles are getting to me.
I've been back at work for 2wks now and the first week was tough because I thought people were staring but it gradually gets better...or perhaps you just start caring less
I have resigned myself to the idea that I have to be patient. I'm using gel regularly and taking arnica pills....
How is your swelling?
Answer:
oh sorry danika i asked you again on another post. i'm sure things will continue to get better for you. the work thing must be tough. but i honestly think we notice much more than people around us do. i actually haven't even had my surgery yet...still two more weeks to wait. but time is flying by and i'm sure it'll be over in no time. i just paid the full balance of my procedure..gulp. it's SO MUCH money...i hope it's worth it or i'll be devastated...
Keep me posted on how the recovery goes.

Answer:
Hi TTP,
Oh you will feel like your surgery is worth it.
I don't regret it. I just have to wait to see the final result. Once you have your surgery you'll fully understand why so many of us are kind of in limbo for a while.
You won't regret it though!!!! It's just the healing that takes way too long for my liking....and my is kind of like a fussy child....it swells even more when it's not "happy." So nowadays, I am constantly thinking about how different activities and environments will affect my nose. Too funny!
Anyway, I wish you all the best with your surgery. You'll find that this msg board is a huge help!
