Depressed about the swelling :(

Question: I know I need to be patient...I'm only 1 week post op, but in the last 2 days my legs have swollen so much that my legs look pretty much as big as they did pre-op. Just wondering if everyone has gone throught this. The first few days after, my family couldn't believe how small I was, hips, thighs, everywhere...now I feel like I'm back to being as big as before. How many weeks do you usually have to wait until most of the swelling subsides? Do you think I will notice a difference next week? I have Endermologie on Monday...so hopefully that will help some and am taking Mysty's advice and getting some Apple Cider Vinegar to help with the swelling...just having an off day I guess.

Answer:
I am 1 week tom. post op The bruising is now starting to go down on my thighs but they still are not pretty, but the ultra sound is really helping. I am still swollen too. I can tell in my love handles a little but i am really dissappointed in my saddle bags that was the main thing and i just hope that he took enough out, cause to me they still look the same. I still have the stiches in when do you get yours out?

Answer:
I actually didn't have stitches...my incisions were only 3mm, so they have all pretty much closed up, although I'm draining still from my left knee and under my bum. I think patience is definitely the key here....i keep telling myself that. My outer and inner thighs are really swollen...i'm sure yours are too, don't be too disappointed just yet...i think we both need to take it easy and see what happens in the next few weeks. I have heard 1 month is a really good time to see the changes. 3 weeks to go!

Answer:
Thanks!! ya you are right I am just trying to download my pics... yuck but i would like to see what you think..

Answer:
It has been 6 months since my ...I had over 4,000cc removed.. my outer thighs, abdomen, hips...I have been soo swollen... I was real depressed these past 5 and half months... I couldn't wear any of my clothes...I was soo disgusted with how tight everything was that I tried on... and I hated the fact of having to go buy pants and shirts that would fit, because I thought that this lipo was going to something to help me trim donw...I am slowly going down now... but, I think the only thing that is helping me is that, for 4 weeks now, I just started working out for about 10 minutes a day 5 days a week... just a real slow and nothing extreme workout with my weight bench system that we have... I am 5'4 and weigh about 162... my goal is to get back down to 130...I gained about 35 pounds when I started taking Lexapro 2 years ago, but I am off of it now.... and thats why I had the lipo was to help give me a boost to get my shape back...from all the research and the message boards that I have read, I think its normal to stay swollen for a duration of time..I just hope that I start loosing some more of it soon... good luck, to all of you that had this done...I really think its going to be worth all the pain that I endured once I am at the goal that I wan to achieve...

Good luck to you all...

hi Karina,
My op was May 11th, so about 2 weeks post op. My arms are pretty much now as big as before....but this time I know it is swelling because I looked great the day after surgery...
we have to be patient, even though I know it is hard!

Answer:
KarinaG..
I had the same feelings too. I actually wrote in for the same thing. I had my surgery 04/17/2006. I'm now 5 weeks post op, and I am finally starting to see a little differnce. My PS told me that it could take about 8 weeks to notice any significant difference. I had MTT and of my upper abs, inner/outer thighs, knees and sculpturing.

I really got swollen after surgery. I actually gained 15 pounds, and was so depressed.

I really want my buttocks and saddlebags to get smaller! I am trying to be patient...it's hard. Reading the messages that everyone writes in gives me uplifting encouragement because a lot of people are experiencing the same thing.

Be patient. The swelling is normal. Check out my pics...you'll see how swollen I got!

Good luck with your recovery, and hope this helps.

Each person reacts different to ACV, in good ways. My mom always retains water and is at the end of the straw. She started the Apple Cider Vinegar about 3 weeks ago and hasnt had any water retention. My freind takes this when she's on her period as it helps her bloating. Did you start taking it yet?

Answer:
Please tell about the apple cider vinegar! How do yu take it? I have terrible bloating before my period but don't want to take laxatives for fear of messing up my metabolism...

Answer:

Go to Longs/ rite aid, etc and get the pills. They are easier to take and if you can gulp a pill down there is no taste whatso ever. I take one in the morning, afternoon and before bed. They have so many uses its crazy, I give my dogs half a pill to keep fleas and ticks away. You can google Apple Cider Vinegar, I'm also taking this for !

Answer:
Mysty...yup, I started taking the ACV tablets a couple days ago. I am seeing a little difference in the swelling, but I'm also still draining...so it could be a combination of things. Thanks for the suggestion...I read up on other benefits of ACV and it would be great to boost my metabolism as well.

On another note...I had my Endermologie session today, and boy is it worth it. I feel so much better after, like after a really deep tissue massage. Also, all my little hard areas are now soft. I'm really tender still, so it was pretty painful at times but worth it I think. Doc says everything looks good, but I'll probably still drain for another week...argh!

Answer:
Cali_Girl RN-Thanks for the pics. Funny, we have pretty much the same body exactly (unfortunately, I'm a lot older-43!). Your 32 days post-op pics really look good and I'm hoping to look the same. This helps to keep your spirits up when you don't see results immediately. I only one week post-op!
