allergies and blood test...

Question: Hey everyone!

I posted this before on the wrong board. My question is, on a CBC (complete blood count) panel, have you ever noticed that your Eosiniphils was a little high? Mine was a bit high and the nurse said that it was due to allergies but the funny thing was, when I went in for this, I wasn't having any problems with my allergies. Do you suppose that a blood test can tell someone that they have allergies if they aren't having a flare up?

Answer:
Doesn't matter if you are having a flare up or not. The test will jsut show that you have allergies...not exactly what they are. You need the scratch test for that.

Answer:
So what you are saying is that if a person did not have allergies, the "Eosiniphils" would be in "normal" range on a blood test but if someone has allergies, then it will read a little high, right?

Answer:
Yes - they can. It isn't conclusive in any way though.
