Question:
Hello,
I have been having problems with my gums (errosion) for a long time now. I am meticulous & gentle with my cleaning regime yet I always seem to get inflamed again.
I do have certain food intolerances though, for instance I have realised that modified maize starch (and many types of fruit) cause soreness and tiny lacerations in my mouth in small amounts, (large amounts cause my throat to swell). I just wondered if this might be a cause of some of my gum trouble. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

ps i have also posted this in the dental problems board.
Answer:
Very interesting question. I have just found out that I have a lot of food allergies (just causing contact problems, not systemic) and my gums started to recede terribly with the use of an electric toothbrush and no one else has this problem. You know, it might be connected because the food is coming into contact with my gums.
Answer:
yes..you can get gum problems with food allergies. It is more of a gum irritation..nothign to really worry about. A soft electric tooth brush helps and also staying away from that food that does that to you. I have tons of food allergies and I am still trying to pin point all the symptoms. They are crazy what food allergies can do to you. They can do everything from nasal drainage to depression.
