Question:
I don't believe in helping someone lie about something so I'm going to encourage you to tell the truth and be proud of it and to hell people who act like an ass about it.
Or just be even more honest and say "none of your business".

Thanks for all the replies! My actual point of the original point was to find out what type of medical reaon could cause such a . If you have an answer to that specific question, it would be appreciated. As to opinions on whether or not to tell people, blah blah blah...I totally wanted to avoid that whole side of the discussion, as some people may be proud of it, others may be not, some people feel everyone should know, some people feel no one should know, etc. Everyones opinion is different, and everyone is entitled to one. However, I really didnt want to get into that sort of discussion with my question.
So, if you guys know of medical reasons that could cause such a big scar, that would be greatly appreciated!
Answer:
Hey Kim.. I actually replied with the intention of giving you a reason, but stopped after my other preface comments!
Before my TT I had a from a radical hysterectomy that was 9" long.
I had cancer, so my Dr had to go in and take everything including 50 lymph nodes, so he needed alot of room to maneauver.
You probably would want to leave the cancer part out, but you might say you had severe endo, larger fibroids, or something like that, so you had to have a radical hyst..
Answer:
Thanks Swebby,
I am sorry you had to go through all that. It must have sucked, but I am glad you are all better now!
Answer:
I have a few thoughts on this...
I am always inclined to tell the truth. If there is something private, then (for me) a fib isn't the answer; I'd say whatever part I was okay with (like "abdominal surgery") and leave off the details. When I don't feel like sharing about this (for whatever reason) I say that I had corrective surgery, and leave it there. Most people don't press, but for the ones that do, I simply repeat myself rephrased.
I think it's important to be comfortable in our own , and comfortable with our own choices. People will judge us...sometimes favorably, sometimes not. But since we are the only ones in our skin 24/7, either way, it is only us who needs to be okay about our choices (beyond the things that effect our immediate family, etc., but for the sake of discussion, stipulate that all those boxes are already checked).
I would ask myself why I am upset about people knowing, or what makes me uncomfortable about it...and work on that. Like, if it is that I don't want the hassle of explaining it, then I can have a short, pat response. If it's that I don't want to deal with an ugly response, then I might actually reevaluate whether I even want to be around those people, anyway...and if I have no choice not to be around them, then I'd probably opt to tune them out, and just not care what their opinions are.
It's not an on/off switch, though...choosing not to be ruled by the judgments of others is something you work at day in and day out...it gets easier, but it's a chore like doing the laundry or brushing your teeth..it needs tending to.

Thanks Kim.. yup, 4 yrs this month. So far, so good! I was lucky to have caught it early..
Keep your pap's up to date ladies.. It's too simple to not do it.. My cancer was a grade 3 cancer. If I had skipped even a yr, my outcome would've been very different.
Answer:
Wow Swebby, Thank God you get your paps. I just got mine, I have it checked about every nine monthes because my mom and sister had cancer. I'm glad you were able to beat it!!

In answer to your response, I am totally comfortable in my own , I love my body, even my tummy, and could honestly give a hoot about what others thinks....However, there are some situations where people will see the (I am in FL and at the gym a lot, and changing in front of friends, strangers, etc, and changing in the cabanas at the beach, locker rooms, etc), and I know there will be situations when people will ask what the scar is from. I would like to have an immediate, quick answer available, without coming across rude to the questionner, but just a quick answer to end the questioning, without turning it into a discussion. Understand?
Like I said before, in my opinion, I believe plastic surgery is a personal issue. It has nothing to do with being comfortable in your own skin, or caring about others jugements. I just see no reason to tell people, as its none of their business. It's like getting your lip waxed, would you start telling people you just had it done? I feel some things are private, not shameful, just personal.
If you read my post you will see that I was just looking for a medical reason that could have caused a scar, not a sermon. I think you were really reading too much into it.For me, that is the route I choose to follow. You, obviously are welcome to do what is best for you.
Answer:
I have the same issues with the lockeroom situation. No one would have guessed I had a TT unless they saw my . I don't feel it's anyones business either although I wish I was comfortable just telling anyone.
I actually make it a point to not undress around anyone at the gym.
But if I were asked then I would either use the excuse of muscle repair surger. Or if I really wanted to make someone feel bad about ag a personal question I think I would entertain the thought of saying that I had a scar revision for an emergency c-section.

hi nicky2
well hopefully in time, the s will fade a lot, and no one will notice! I would never know what a tt scar looked like if I had not been on this board.
