Question:
My biggest worry was the TT and my ps even drew around a bikini bottom to assure me prior to surgery that it would work. (THu 5/4) I woke up and instead of one long line - I had a long line (which looked great) but it had a 2-3 inch vertical line that stops just about 2 inches from my Bellybutton. What the hell? Anyone ever seen this?
I was out of it obviously and have been so busy trying to manage since that I didn't think much of it. Well, my ps nurse called to check on me today and asked "Are you ok with your scar? What did you think - I know that concerned you." I told her that I didn't like the T - I'd never seen one like that. She said they had to do that because there just wasn't enough to close me up - I didn't have "enough extra skin to close at all. " I asked if the ps cut too much off or what and she said "They don't cut until later. They pull it all up and start sewing, then cut and you didn't have enough. You would've been left with an open wound."
1) Wouldn't she have known this could be a concern ahead of time and let me know?
2) Don't they cut first and pull and sew after?
She was like "Are you ok with it?" and I said "Not much I can do about it now is there?"
I see my ps Friday and plan on asking her all about it. I know that some things they can't foresee and it isn't that bad - guess I'll live with it. It is my damn luck - though - kind of pisses me off and makes me wonder why the nurse was so curious if I was "ok with it?". Makes me wonder if the ps could've avoided it or made a mistake? Should I bluntly ask her that?

Answer:
Yes, they should of been able to give you an idea a head of time. Mine did but it was more like "we MIGHT have to do a small vertical"
Usually the vertical is for where the old bb was, so unless you find yourself with a lot of loose upper ab flub then you probably didn't have enough .

i totally understand not being satsfied. i'm hoping my ps will fix this to my disatisfaction. i wasn't ag for much. i just wanted my "ridge" removed for the most part. (he told me the hips needed to go as well, so i did that too). do you have pics? no one really felt my pain until i posted pics.
i really like my ps (personally), so i'm really confussed about what to do. i hate to go to another ps because that will just cost me more money and i don't want to create any waves, but at the same time, it is my body (that i have to live with for the rest of my life) and it did cost me almost $9000.
If you're not happy, and the nurse obviously knew you wouldn't be, i would document every phone call etc.
my father-in-law is a medical malpractice atty, and cases are based on documentation. that sounds really bad. i don't think i would ever sue a , but that's what suits are based on. you sound pretty unhappy, and you disgussed your goals beforehand. i would think that what you discribed was a pretty permanent outcome...

I too am sorry to hear that you came out that way. I had the T incision as well. My Dr told me prior too that I would probably have that because I would not have as much to pull tight and I was o.k. with that. But to have mutiple T's that is unheard of. I do hope that your PS will work with you to do something about your problem. I do wish you the best and that everything turns out for you. To have something bright to think about let's just hope and wish that your scar will fade into nothing and there will be nothing to see in the future and your T scar will not be as bad as it seems now... I hope that helps for you. I am just trying to find a silver cloud for you...

This same thing happened to me as well. I had no idea I would need a vertical (this was never discussed) until my was taken off 3 days post op for a check and I seen it. I dont care that she had to do it, but I wish I would have known it could have happened. And what I really hate about it, is that it left some loose between my bb and the vertical that is going to have to be revised, and how she will do that is beyond me.
I really can't see how I didn't have enough skin to close, but I think it has to do with the way my incsion was placed. It is really low and I think that is why she did the vertical. If it is any consolation, my vetical at 10 weeks post has healed perfectly and I can't really even see that part of my .
Do you like your results? If so then I wouldn't let a small vertical incision bother you. Only you will see it anyways. There isn't anything that can be done about it now, but I am like you. I would have like to have known ahead of time.
Do you have s you can share?
Answer:
So sorry you weren't informed about the T, but you are not alone several women on the board have the same . He really should have told you that was a possibility.
Answer:
I have a T . It is short about 1" but my PS told me ahead of time that I may not have enough x-tra to totally get rid of the skin that was around the old bb. It's not so bad and I know from experience that the scar will fade ALOT!! If you look at my pics closely you will see an old scar below my TT incision from an old surgery. I also recommend that you check out a posting from yesterday by high-expections she had a revision done and one side of her scar is 9 months old and very faded and the other side where the revision was done is 1 month old and still red. Hope this gives you comfort
When you get a chance it'd be great to see your pics.
Good luck in your recovery.

Hi there! I have the "T" as well. I am 3 weeks post-op and it already looks great! Sorry I don't have a pic up yet with the tape off, but I promise I will soon! Don't sweat it!
Hugs,

Everyone else is right of course.. it's the old bb. As I just explained in the other post they do /\ cut on the bottom of the top flap to remove the old bb hole.
But I really got to question that statement. Did the nurse really say that?? That's not even possible I don't think.
They always cut first, sit you up and then sew.. And yes, he should've been able to warn you. Most Dr's know there's at least a chance of that going in.
If you're otherwise satisfied with your results I wouldn't dwell on the too much.. it'll fade to nothing.. My concern would have been that he didn't take enough . If you're happy with that, then you should be happy long term.
Answer:
If the old BB cannot be pulled all the way down to the incision, the "T" will result. This in my opinion is predictable and is discussed before surgery.
If I'm really unsure, I tell patients to expect the and if the does in fact stretch enough, then there's a pleasant surprise.
Pulling too tight on the skin, or raising the horizontal incision up enough to get the old BB out are in my opinion poor trades for the small "T" scar.
Hope this helps,
