Surgery Details from Geena

I didn't sleep the night of surgery b/c I had to leave my home at 330am to be at the OR on time. I wasn't as e as I thought I would be. They gave me an IV and those ted hose, and a patch for my neck... I told them I wanted everything to keep from vomiting. They gave be 3 med's before surgery and 3 after. I hate GENERAL Anastasia (sp) My PS came in mark me all up then took me to the OR the room was so cold it could have snowed it there LOL they put my legs in some kind of massager thingy then put the lights out meds in my IV I remember tasting the meds it was an ugly taste like a Chemical taste. 4 hrs later I was done I remember not being able to get alert I couldn't wake up. The after care nurse came in to take me to her place. I don't remember getting out of the bed. LOL The after care center was GREAT then spoiled me and my DH I could not have done it without them. It was so hard to get out of the chair my DH would have never known how to lift me without hurting me. The first night was the worst. I was feeling nauseated and it was hard to Pee I couldn't push it out I had to wait for it to trickle out. I love there soft toilet riser it is a must to have. The pain was pretty upsetting at first to get in and out of the chair, to clear my throat was crazy pain! I was taking 1 Percocet every 2 hrs but was still feeling the pain. Julie my Angle nurse said lets try 2 pain pills every 3 hrs and I felt no pain... DID you here me? I felt NO PAIN : ) it was great. My pain pump was inserted in my chest going down so my MR was numb. Yea me LOL. That night I started inching like crazy. It was the general Anastasia coming out of my body. It was driving me crazy but I was just happy I wasn't in pain or DEAD! Each deep breath I took I could still taste the gross taste. I stood in the after care center for 2 wonderful days then came home climb the stairs with no problem. I just can't seem to get a good night sleep : (
I got off the pain pills on day 4. I'm doing great. I took off my Ted hose on day 7. I am still moving my feet and doing deep breathing. On Wednesday then took out my drains and pain pump I didn't feel the pump at all, The drains they gave me a few OUCH shots then pull the drains out I felt nothing on my right but it hurt a little on the left. That night my left side hurt bad like a pulled muscle or something maybe a nerve? Yesterday I woke up it wasn't hurting but started again last night. Maybe my body is tired of being in the chair. I move to my DH sectional sofa and I was able to sleep but had a hard time getting out of it every few hours to pee. My friend Shannon Teenytine called me last night freak me out about infection so I called my PS they said to call them tomorrow and I could go in but it would be in the San Diego office (1hr 45 mins away from my home) I called them to see if maybe the PS would give me the antibiotic Z pack just in case and b/c its the holiday... The nurse said she would talked to the PS but he would not be in until later she said I could come in at 2:45 which is going to be crazy Christmas traffic. She didn't think I needed to come in I have no fever no red or anything strange, she was going to run it by the PS when he called in b/c he wasn't going to be in today until 3:00 anyway over all it was pretty easy.
I got to see my tummy it flat my BB I am not sure of it looks a little big. I have swelling and I have a puffy muff. Does a ken doll hurt? Could that be my pain? My pain is on the left side of the drain going about 4 inches across. The PS did extra MR he did my Oblique muscles (sp) coming in like a V he said I am going to love my results. I can't wait to walk straight and get this off. I have two huge butt bruise I guess from the .
The worst part of it all has been my throat. As soon as I am falling asleep I get a tickle and I have to sit up fast drink tea and water to fight it off so I won't cough. B/c that HURTS
Last night on my DH sofa I finally got some sleep. Hopefully tonight it gets better.
I still can't talk much without causing that tinkle to come back : (
So far so good, My DH can really seen my new body and loves it. I can't tell much yet with all this padding and binder ect.

Sounds like you're doing great Geena! I'm so happy for you, I know you had lots of questions before. Isn't it easier on the flatlands side? Sounds like your ps did a great job and you will be so happy with that V shape.

Congrats!! Glad you're doing well and believe me...I know how bad coughing hurts...I passed out once from it.....lol....but you do need to cough sometimes. You don't want to get pneumonia or anything from being down for the next couple weeks. Just splint yourself and cough...the pain passes pretty quick. Well wishes and Happy Holidays!!!

Yesterday we drove all the way out to see the PS he said everything look great no sign of infection thx GOD! Today I have had no left side pain : )
